Very unique seafood experience. They don't speak much English but at least the photo has pictures. The salty pepper crab was excellent. You have to eat with your hands. It can get quite messy with the seafood.

This is known for its crab. I definitely would stick with just the crab. We ate lots of crab, shrimp, fish and veggies. The crab in the soup was definitely a highlight. The ribs can do without. The veggies are always a treat. Definitely get the lemon juice.

You want chili crab. Well, you can't do much better than this place for the authentic article. You can certainly beat this stall in terms of ambiance. But if you're going to this place, then ambiance is low on your priorities. Chili crab here is more sweet than spicy. And the use of the Sri Lankan big clawed crabs means the meat kinda sticks to the interior of the shells. Added challenge, especially since the chili sauce is a gelatinous ooze that might work to lubricate an internal combustion engine. Tip: get the fried mini bread rolls. They are independently delicious, but, their point is to wipe up chili sauce to shovel the viscous mess into your mouth. The prices are heady for sitting in Non-air conditioned heat and on flimsy plastic seats. In Jan 2017, we're talking $70SGD/kg. Yeah, no joke. Two smaller crabs one prepped as chili and another as vermicelli soup set us back $140. I honestly can't pick a winner between the two styles of crab. They're both delicious. The rice vermicelli soup crab has pork fat at the bottom of the pot. No wonder it's so damn good.

I love this place although its open air with no airconditioner. The young owners are very attentive to customers needs. I love the garlic bamboo clams which was too pricey, this place is known for their crab dishes but my favorite was the salted egg port spareribs!!! The crabs were great too. Will definitely come back next time i am here in singapore.

I can only rate the chili crab because that is all we ordered. Good stuff! Not too spicy. A little sweet. Very rich. Soak up the sauce with small buns that remind me of "hush puppies". Eat fast before the food gets cold. I recommend 3-4 people tackle a 1kg crab if you plan to order other stuff.

A 4.5 star place for me. Btw, I've never been to Mellben before. I could never take the infamous 90min queues. My joy was palpable when this joint recently opened a month or so ago. It's much more convenient now, and as it's so new, the lines aren't cray-cray. Yet. On to the food!!! 1) Braised Bee Hoon Crab 螃蟹炒米粉 - Aiyoh this was my fave!!!!! Check out my photo!!! Super moreish!!!! Every slurp of the beehoon was delectable, and the crab was of course spankingly fresh. Amazing lah. Really. This was the star for me!!! Worth repeated visits. 2) Claypot Crab Bee Hoon Soup 砂煲螃蟹米粉汤 - now, this was a fave with the peeps. I enjoyed it muchly too, as the broth was just fantastic. Seriously. It had some sort of alcoholic twinge to it (rice wine added perhaps) so it really kicked it up several notches. Superior. 3) Creamy Butter Crab 牛油螃蟹- this was also good. I licked my fingers so as not to waste the creamy butter sauce. Hahaha! 4) Chilli Crab 辣椒螃蟹 - this one was surprisingly my least favourite. I found the sauce too sweet for my liking. It tasted slightly artificial in fact. A friend agreed with me. But tastes are so subjective anyway. IMHO, get the first two crab dishes and you're gold. :) Forgot to add that all Crabs @ $65/KG 5) Icy-Chilled Sweet & Sour Pork 冰冻古老肉$15/$20/$30 - this dish I liked! Very interesting. The sweet & sour pork is sitting on a bed of ice cubes!!!! The ice cubes melt into a bowl underneath so it doesn't wet the entire table. Very very cool. For some strange reason, this item seemed to work! Enjoyable! 6) Salted Egg Pork Ribs 咸蛋排骨 $15/$20/$30- this was my fave non-seafood dish!! Oh baby!!! Papa was in heaven!!!! I swear, the level of joy of picking up these ribs with your fingers and biting the pork off the bone........ Insanely good. 7) Australian Baby Abalone in Superior Sauce 红烧小鲍鱼 $12 per pc - I liked these fresh abalone. Not too tough. Can tell the abalone is of good quality. My one gripe is the sauce... It looks like it has too much coloring. But in any case, my pals liked this dish a lot. I wasn't too hot for this. 8) Deep Fried Marble Goby in Homemade Thai Sauce 泰式炸順壳鱼 Market Price - I can't remember how much this was. I liked it. Nothing too spectacular. A solid dish. Won't order again though. 9) Stir-Fried Garlic Chives w Shimeji Mushroom 松菇清龙菜 $20/$30/$40 - oh this was good. Very good indeed. My face lit up with the happiness one experiences when there is a party in one's mouth. Might seem like a simple dish, but oh boy. Packs good solid flavours. A must-order. 10) Seafood Crispy Beancurd 脆皮海鲜豆腐 $12/$15/$18 - this one was fab. Just fabs. I wish I could have more. Must-order too, IMHO 11) Double-Boiled Hashima w Red Dates 冰糖红枣雪蛤 $15 per portion - yummy although it was a little costly. Hashima is meant to be good for complexion so all the ladies did not spare this dessert! Hahahaha overall a very FULL-filling meal!!!! Burp!!!! I. Will. Be. Back. (Ala foodie terminator)
